Default Cutting an RC car off

It seems like if you lower the throttle all the way down it will just brake. So how do you cut the engine off? And if you stuck your finger over the exhaust, would it burn your finger?

Default shut it

You can stick your finger in to plug the carb hole. depending what
kind of air cleaner you hace. You can pinch the fuel line to
starve it. But some people say that killing it this way is bad
for the engine beacuse it is basically leaning it out compleatly.
You can cover the exaust stinger with something other than
your finger ie: shoe, screwdriver back etc... Or you can toutch
your shoe to the flywheel and stop it.
I am in favor of the close the carb hole off method.

If you put your finger over the filter make sure you don't smash it in because you will push all the dirt from the filter into the engine.I always just pinch the fuel line as close to the carb as I can get since it is basically the same as letting the car run out of gas.Stopping the flywheel is not good for newer engines that haven't fully broken in yet IMO.The parts are still new and kinda stiff so the sudden stop could break something.

i lick my finger and cover the exhaust tip.
it only takes like 1 second to stop with this method, so the temp vs the salavia wont heat up in time to burn your wittle finger

on my RC10GT, I have a big enough hole over the engine to get two fingers in and pinch the fuel line.

I just put my finger over the exhaust hole. I quits almost immediately and I've never burned my finger.

None of my engines have flooded by doing it. I think it quits so quickly it doesn't have time to flood. They quit almost instantly by doing this.

I cover the echaust. it never floods, probably because its hot. most flooding occurs from over priming or overcranking the engine when its cold.

how to kill an engine? I usually use a .44 magnum, but thats just me.

errr anyway.

covering the exhast wont flood the enging because it jsut builds up back pressure to the point were no fuel/air can get into the cylinder.

pinching the line works too. I do this on my nitrosport becuase that exhast gets really hot for some reason. it shouldnt damage the engine if you close the line completely. its when you pinch it not enough and it leans out but still runs that its a problem.

someday they should put a kill button on your radio that closes the throttle ALL the way.

then you would need a seperate servo for the brake. and mixing to prevent the servo from closing the throttle all the way when you stop.

You could probably have a 3rd channel that operates a pin that keeps the throttle open a smidge while running, and when activated, the pin comes back and allows the throttle to close completely.

Speaking of using a third channel. I always would like to see a starting button on the remote. That way you don't have to lug around an easy start or other contraption.

You could use the third channel to blow the custom
explosive head bolts! LOL kidding of course. I keep thinking
that the real reason for the 3rd channel is for the nitrous
systems that are bound to hit the market soon! Anyone
who used to play that old arcade game OFF ROAD with the
nitrous buttons knows that would be cool!

Definately do-able. I'd much rather use it for reverse but if the model doesn't have reverse, I'd use it for that. Hell with bending over to push the button LOL

Doesn't the T-Maxx have one? And it seems like if you had enough space, you could add one to any car or truck. Just attach an electric motor and some gears to the flywheel, and a button to engage it. You'd have to have a servo to retract the electric motor though.

They Do!!! It's called the throttle trim control. Model airplane engines are set up that way (or they should be). Moving the throttle control trim all the way down will close the throttle all the way and stop the engine. It's done as a safety device. If the plane gets out of control, whether on the ground or in the air, you are able to "chop the throttle" or shut the engine down by moving the trim control. You can easily set up a car to work that way. In addition, if you put a short length of exhaust tubing on the stinger, you won't burn a finger when you snuff out the engine. Been doing it for years. Works great!!

when storing the motor you shouldn't leave fuel it the carb so I and ones I know at least at the end of the day will Pinch the line till stall so the carb is dry. then use after run oil.

That is one of the worst things to do to stop an engine. It actually causes particles (dirt) to be sucked into the carb in addition to an excess of fuel. This causes major flooding of the engine. Have you noticed how difficult it is to get the engine restarted after "choking" it this way?

It starts right back up for me. No problems at all. The only time I ever have problems is when I prime it to much and then the engine floods.
