depends on your driving skills your RB will be able to over rev the OS by far it'll be quicker off the line for a second or two but your RPMs will just blow past him...besides most of the time that .30vg will be spining the tires rather than moving lol

the SO 30 in a Savage will likely beat the 523.... the power difference is pretty huge and the OS is no slouch....
By the time the RB's extra RPMs kick in the OS will be long gone...

cheers mate !
the OS 30 is a dam nice engine, i did some research on it and I may end up with one myself... Nikasil sleeve, which will last much much longer then chrome, have less internal friction and resist scratches, allows the use of a harder piston material as well...which means an engine that takes longer to break in but will last double what a normal engine will last.
Now I honestly dont think alot of guys realise how powerful a big displacement big block really is.. sure the little 23 might pull a slightly higher top speed, but the problem is that its going to take alot of time to reach that speed...the Big OS 30 will be at top speed in about 1/2 the time and the smallblock wont have a hope of ever catching up...

ya know tib, thats probably it. your truck has enough leverage to break em loose, mine goes over backwards.. but they dont spin in grass! even wet...
i used a qoncepts big block kit, i tried the traxxas kit... it broke. but you have to bump start it, not on board starters work well. but i have heard of people grinding a little off the rpm arm to get a roto start to fit. so you might be able to do it, i havnt tried.

RE: best FASTEST possible engine for the revo 3.3
If the OS 30 can take a RB523 like you guys say, why is it down here in miami my RB523 is untouchable. The only one that has passed me is a .28 NOVA, but the OS30 is pure torque plus the rb523 turbo like any other turbo makes up for the speed. I havent done anything extra to my revo just engine and spur gear. If you wanna see for yourself show up at FIU campus mon, wed, fri. There is about to savages with os30 and 4 revos with os30 1 revo with rb523 which is me, and 2revos with picco 26.
And you will be amazed.

RE: best FASTEST possible engine for the revo 3.3
I got to agree with tib and pqrs above....I have had 2 os 30's and they are decent engines - can be made quite a bit faster with some modding...the 323 and 523 are not true RB motors...they are cheap IMO, and tend to have all sorts of issues (at least mine did). Your best bet for a drop in motor is the picco max 26 - they are quick, powerful, and have a decent top end...all for around 200....if you really want the fastest engine, look at nova 28 or rb 928 (a true RB motor). Of course, those will run 350 or so, plus 100 for the BB kit (the qoncepts is the only way to go), and another 125 for the starter box...BB is the only way to go (I have had several in my revo), but for a drop in, the picco max 26 is hard to beat
The revo is pretty tough to drive with a modded BB also...insane power, but they tend to backflip pretty easy (even in second gear)...just look at revopqrs' vid of his nova in his revo on a track...very hard to control...

RE: best FASTEST possible engine for the revo 3.3
I've heard alot of complaints about the Picco .26 max's tunability and piston and sleeve life. Are these issues due to incompetant engine tuners or are they common complaints among experienced nitro fanatics?

ive got 3 buddies who run the 26 max and their motors have 5,6,7 gallons on em and running stronger than ever! great motor!! a few had bearing issues, but ofna took care of them.
