I do not know-mine was built in 1958 although was early r/c-had rudder control only-was built by my dad and is powered with a red head mccoy .35-there is a gentlemen by name of William kaminsky with Passtime Hobbies that is manufacturing a short kit of this model with updated instructions and plans for r/c use-I hope this helps

The Berkeley advertisement in MAN May 1956 lists the 170 as 72" wingspan (2" scale), for RC, FF, and PAA load. Suggests .25 to .35 engines. No mention of CL.

I would assume .35 to .45 sparkie.

BTW...retail was $10.95. [8D]

ORIGINAL: PLANE JIM

What is PAA load?-thanks
Pan American Airlines used to sponsor a FF event at the Nats that required weight to be added to a plane, take off from the ground, timed after engine quit. Not sure about engine size/run restrictions.

I only read about this event, I was a kid flying CL at the time...did not pay much attention to the details.
