Default bvm f-100

i have been flying over 25 years and have flown 30 lb f4us wacos, p-47s and helis. ive been told the bvm f 100 is a great stable jet and can be flown by someone who has no jet experience. i am a practicing chemist so I understand assy saftey and common sense. ive seen vids where due to the le slats and te flaps she lands slow. even saw a dead stick.
I understand setting up a turbine is the difficult part however i can read and follow schematics. any responses? im 47 have good reflexes and fly lots of twin warbirds so fast im used to

HI,you might be a good flyer, but can you afford to loose 15 thousand dollars in a crash, if not, start out on a 5 thousand dollar jet.

I have flown a BVM F-100. While it is a fantastic jet and flys very well it is not a good first jet. Try something scale like the BVM small F-86. It flys great and will not set your wallet back soo much.

Good luck,
Kevin

None that I have seen. You should go for it, and prove them all wrong

I've witnessed at least a hundred RC Hun flights, all fantastic!

i plan too building the aircraft wont be the problem i know about turbine lag. i would set up the turbine outside of the aircraft and get to know it. ive seen the vids and it lands slower than my taylor corsair

not to start a war or anything just a comment. flying is really no different if you are highly experienced fly proper patterns, and know when to fly the only difference is the turbine. I know they are a piece of wonderful workmanship but its not a godly thing. Ive seen a vid of guys with the money and they crash! WHY/ NO ANTENNA UP ON TX. with spektrum and flite metal and sierra retacts this would be beautiful. i would be very careful on first few flights. I fly off private land by myself so no problems. I talked to many who say it has a large speed envelope. but is stable and lands slow 40ish.
its that or a wingspan b-17 but mike raised his priced drastically and the f-100 is composite

No problem, there is a wealth of information in the jets forum, and many here have built that jet. Plus, the BVM manual to build that jet is the best manual to model builders available. When are you getting it?

Yea, I agree with Dustin. I've built one and flown another - the BVM gear on this model is bullet-proof. Stick with BVM gear and wheels/brakes for this model. You'll save yourself a great deal of heartburn...

If you need any info on the F-100, I would recommend giving the shop a call. I can get you all the specifics on servos and such. Ask for Dustin. Take a look at http://www.bvmjets.com/Pages/kits/f-100%20site.htm

Thanks

ive done a wingspan b-17 and ziroli b-25s im fully aware of airframe considerations. its the turbine and the propane auto start. Im 47 and a teacher who spends all my money on airplanes. ive paid my house and car off so i buy planes. My wife broke her back so she lets me build in the living room. i can show pics of a major conversion im doing on a tf b-25 arf. full working bomb bay electric power and glassed with ed claymans roie the riveter and flite metal for hatches, I just cant compete due to my wife

money is no problem . (call me tomorrow)

I'm not sure that's a good idea, you need to call the fine folks at BVMjets.com and explain your situation. Dustin who has just answered above has already said you can ask for him. I don't read the warbird forum, but there are very few people over in this forum who can take a guy walking in saying his first jet is going to be a BVM Hun. Mostly because, to my knowledge, that's never been done before. Which means you are effectively saying that you are a better pilot and builder than the thousand guys that have their turbine waiver.

It's a free country, but not many people are going to help somebody lose a 20K jet. Of course, BVM might, hey, more business for them. I don't think anybody in this entire forum, not one single person would support you making this decision. And that's maybe why the warbird guys thought we would not take you seriously, cause the concept is preposterous!
