These images are from a storage facility that I use. I do not monitor the video while flying, I just estimate framing and get lucky most of the time but I am getting good at it. All images and video that I have done so far has been by estimating camera position. What was funny was when I got home and reviewed the video, I realized there was activity in the middle units and noticed people just staring at the helo. I couldn't see them and they couldn't see me but we all could see the helo.

Was that from a plane or DF? It looks like a high quality image from a digital still camera and I don't think there is one small enough and with decent quality, yet, to fly on a DF. If it is a digital camera on a DF, please tell me where to get one, because I definitely want images that look like that good at such a high resolution!

Oh, why did you want to do that to me? I thought there was a breakthrough in really small, high quality digital cameras. [:'(] Don't take me wrong and that is a great picture, but that should really go in the AP forum or the one for your bird. This forum and thread is for DF info. These are two very different aircraft with the big difference in that yours can carry something that heavy. Intermixing your excellent images with our great (for video) stills is two different things.

You don't have to delete them. I see what you mean now. I guess it does look like a construction images post. That's just what I happened to shoot recently. I thought you may not have known what the DF was and may have thought it was a regular helo. There is another helo called a Dragonfly (on) whereas mine is a Draganflyer (an). Anyone posting excellent images from a larger platform like yours in the same thread with great (for video) images like what we can get, well it's just two different things. Do you know what I mean? It's like talking about airplanes in a helicopter forum.

Hello there Sky High. The Pentax Optio S6 is a 6 MP camera that is light enough to be mounted underneath a Draganflyer V.

The specs say that it is 3.5 oz. without a battery. That may very well work even with a battery but how is it going to be triggered remotely? If it records video then you could start recording on the ground. That and the mounting issue with vibration isolation has to be resolved. Thanks for the info.

aha, that's the trick!

Check out http://www.kapshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=88

The Gentled AUTO will fire the camera from 3s to 4 mins. With a 1GB SD card you should get over 500 shots.

I thought with the DF raised using that cable tie mod shown in another thread, the cam could be mounted under the base plate.

I got the new rotors today and am sure these will contribute to more lift.

Thanks for the link. The weight seems to be tolerable. However, from what I could determine, unless it has a receiver to attach to the camera, the IR beam has to be line of site and in close proximity. Otherwise the IR will scatter and not reach the camera and you need altitude to take images. Here is another remote triggering device that I've known about, but again it's about weight. It's called Digilive.

Heuh... Sky High, the Gentled connected to a spare channel on the receiver and the Gentled installed in front of the IR sensor of the camera. When you trigger the designated channel, the Gentled generated the IR beam... I use two of them with my blimp camera setup, one for triggering the shot and another one for zooming. Pretty cool stuf!

The Digilive isn't a triggering device. It's only a video transmitter. I know, cause I use it (again for my blimp camera setup)

A+

You are correct. I forgot about the Digilive being a wireless feed only. I had seen it a while back and thought it was a trigger. Thanks. As far as what you described about the Gentled device, that should work if the whole assembly (camera & trigger) can be mounted on the DF.

My Sony T7 is 4oz WITH battery and 512meg card. Carried it up duct tapped to my DFV. Worked out great. Posted in another link about adding a micro servo to fire the shutter and get 5mp stills. Getting that going soon. And getting back into flying my DF again. Been out of it too long. Got some reading to catch up on too it looks like!! When I started posting about my DF on RCU there was not DF specific forum. This is great.

That Sony T7 sure is little bitty. It looks as though its back could be used as the battery tray. If the DF comes down unexpectedly, I doubt that camera could resist much damage. It looked to be around $350.00. [] The newer motors are supposed to be good at managing more weight but one of mine is bad. [>:]

I got about 4 minutes of video each of 3 times I sent it up one day. Last flight you will see did come down hard. The lens cover slid over and turned the cam off. I found it next day in the woods with only minor damage to the DF. Not a scratch on the camera. I wish I could get just the internal parts removed and mounted w/o all the extra weight of the screen and housing. Not brave enough to take the family camera apart right yet.

Thanks! The raw footage is really sharp and clear. Edited and compressed it is much grainier. Oh well. More to follow.

Did you say newer motors?? What newer motors?? Any details???? I would love be able to get just a little more lifting power from my DF. Strapping on the T7 is good for only about 5 minutes... 4oz is really the max.
