Looking for a set of plans for 1/3 scale Christen Eagle Bi-Plane. Any suggestions as to a supplier would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bob Dively has a Pitts S2 with a Christen Eagle conversion. You can by the whole kit or plans and parts. Find it at: http://www.bobdivelymodels.com/

BTW, the CE is not listed on the site. Call them for the details.

Good luck,

I have a 38% Christen Eagle (for the time being anyway, I know Ace will be reading this ), which is being kitted by RC Model Engineering out of Fleetwood PA. If you are interested, send me an e-mail and I'll dig up their address for you. You might be able to scale the plans to 33%, and have a kit cut.

There are also a couple Pitts plans out there I believe in that size. Those could be bashed into a Christen Eagle pretty easy.

Just some alternatives if nothing comes up.

That is the same plane I have. In fact, the plane I have was built by Frank Knoll Jr, and I believe he is the one that originally offered the kit under the Eagle Aviation name.

RC Model Engineering in PA has the gear, canopy, and glass parts for the 38% Eagle Aviation kit. In fact, I believe he is still selling the airplane from plans, to a full kit.

Steven:
YUP that is the exact airplane I have. Still in ARC condition. Bought it of a guy who never got around to finishing it. Also came with a new 3W twin 70cc. Seems a little small. What do you have in yours? Would also help to know what servo's you are using and all up weight. Plan on starting to finish this bird in the next couple of months. If I have any questions, can I contact you for help?

Yes, you can contact me if you need be, however keep in mind that I did now build the plane, and will not have access to the plane or the plans as its been sold and waiting to be sent to the new buyer.

Mine had a 100cc single in it. I feel that while the 70cc will be under powered, it should still fly scale like. With the 100cc, it didn't have unlimited vertical, but the vertical was good. 70cc will compromise that even further.

I would go with 70oz or so for the ailerons (there are 4 of them, so no monster servos are needed). Elevators, something similar to a JR8411 would work well. Rudder, I don't remember whats in it now, but I would go with around 200-300oz.

The weight if I remember correctly was either 32lbs or 36lbs. I'd need to find my notes, which I can't at the moment. I'll correct this number when I find the notes. Also, mine had a smoke system, pump, extra battery, 32oz smoke tank, and used dual batteries for redundancy, all which added a bit of extra weight to the plane. Even with all that stuff, I liked the way it flew.

Steven:
Thank you. I kind of thought the engine was on the small side, that is why the plane is still hanging on the wall. Think I will leave it there and save up for a 100cc twin.

I don't know if you got the eagle plans you were looking for, but I have the Pilot 1/3 scale complete kit, if you need a set of plans.
