Modifying Balsa USA Laker
I was wondering what everyone thought about modifying a Balsa USA Laker from a single engine to a dual engine configuration. I was thinking something along the lines of 2 Saito 30's. Also I would like to mount the engines in the wing instead of in pods if you can picute what I mean.
Anyone ever tried this modification? Your thoughts and hints would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Modifying Balsa USA Laker
I think I tested one of those some years back for someone both on wheels and water and if I remember correctly it was a shoulderwing design with the wing rather close to the water/ground which I suspect might rule out underwing or midwing nacelles but just possibly overwing nacelles may work when on wheels but unlikely workable on the water.
Might be fun to experiment with a tandem pylon arrangement. That certainly would eliminate any of the handleing problems of an engine out with a conventional twin and would even eliminate the 'P' factor of a single but you would still have of course the reversed pitch reaction from a power change associated with a pylon mounted engine. With the little Saito's You could make the pylon just long enough to squeeze in two 4 0z. tanks between the engines. Just my thoughts
By the way I think the little Saitos would be an ideal combo for that bash. If you decide to try a conventional arrangement then don,t forget to add three or four degrees out thrust on both sides. You won,t regret it.
