Default Nitro Stampede Motor Swap

I have a old nitro stampede that has sat around for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. The .15 motor eZstart sheared its gears and the motor in general is just beat. Iam looking at the engine replacement program and see that Ican get a 2.5r racing engine (seen here:http://www.advantagehobby.com/produc...05&cat=389) for 85$ through traxxas when Iship them my old motor. I can easily take apart my truck and send them motor, what Ihave doubts about is how will the 2.5r motor FITinto the stampede. Are there any serious modifications Ihave to do?Hopefully this is just a simple engine swap, pull my .15 out, drop the 2.5r in.

This will also be my first motor swap, if you have ANYinformation or tips to give me, Iam completely all ears.

P.S. my stampede is entirely stock.

Thank you in advance,

Tom

You wouldn't happen to know where you purchased the kit to fit a 2.5r on a nitro stampede would you?

I'm not too sure about the upgrade kit, but i'm pretty sure that you will need to upgrade the tranny.

go with the OS CVRX S engine, direct drop in, only difference is it'll be pull start instead of EZ start and you'll need a glow plug warmer, the only modification you'll have to do is shorten the crank shaft a little with a hack saw or dremel, by the time you buy the conversion kit it'll cost about the same...

My friend just completed that mod.. It was easy from what I remember him telling me.. I didn't look that closely at it but the linkages were different and he went with a side tuned pipe off a Nitro Rustler I think... the trans is fine.. quick little thing and handles pretty well... became a real wheelie machine...
