Default exhaust change on my Nitro Rustler

Had to replace my my muffler on my Nitro Rustler and my hobby shop did not have the exact match so I bought one with the long black rubber connector instead of the little short blue rubber. The new pipe has a shinny metal insert where the boot connects and a baffle screwed inside the pipe. This baffle has totally changed the tuning of my 2.5 engine and seems to have taken away from my top end speed but car is running up to speed great if that makes any sense. Does anyone have any ideas on this change out, the new pipe had the same part number but they added an "R" to the end of the number.

Default RE: exhaust change on my Nitro Rustler

Had to buy a new exhaust pipe for my nitro rustler and they did not have the exact match so I bought a pipe with the same numbers except there was an extra "R" at the end of the number and my hobby guy said it would work. I had to retune my engine to run this new pipe and it seems I've lost some top end speed but the car gets up to speed better than ever and is running fine. Does anyone have any info on what this new pipe has done to my engine performance. The new pipe had a shinny metal end on the black pipe where you put your connection boot and this shinny metal piece goes into the pipe and is some sort of baffle. My old pipe was completely empty and all black.
