I stuck this bad boy on the test stand last night. WOW!! Primed it, and it started with about 3 flips. Sounds great, appears to pull pretty good. I think I like it!!![8D]
My tac went dead so I could not get a good reading for rpm, but I started about 4 turns out and worked my way in to just under 3. I'm sure its pretty rich yet, but didn't want to chance it without the tac to see whats happening. I'm use to 2 strokes and can't tell mu diff leaning out the 4 strokes.

Well I had thought I was getting a Saito100t, but I got a 90TS in its place, can anyone tell me anything about this engine.
What single is the power comparable to?
good bad habits of the engine?
etc...etc...

Power is good and I would rate it equivalent to a 80 four stroke.
Also, I use OS "F" plugs................

I ran the engine agian yesterday, and either my tach is broke or this engine is a dog. I was toping out at 6400 rpm with a 12x8. I tried moving around (the whole engine stand) to see if it was a light problem, but still could only get 6400.
The exhaust manifolds were bent when I got the engine, they were flat and surely had restrited flow, I rounded them back out even more after I ran last night. Tonight I hope to run it with better results.

'Taint right. It should pull at least 8000 rpm with the 12x8 on it, maybe even 9K. Check the valve lash, if that's OK you might be looking at rings and bearings. How much time does the engine have on it? Give it a good eyeball. How did the stacks get crushed? Has the case been twisted in a crash? What do you really know about the engine's history?
Bill.

William,
Not sure how much time the engine has on it, got it from a trade. Was told about a gallon, the guy wanted more power and switched to a single. Also don't know how the pipes were smashed. I'll check the valves.....What should they be set at? (no instructions or tools with it.)
I could find no other signs of damage, but I did find the inlet fuel nipple and it's housing will rotate.
iflyj3,
I checked the tach, it was set for 2 blades.
Skypilot_one,
I had a problem with both left and right. I was getting only 4000 when it hit me I might have dropped a cylinder, checked and the left was out. stuck the igniter on there and it fired. Then the right dropped, after leaning it out (I started at about 4 turns) I could get both to stay but wasn't turning like I thought it should.
I'm not using a 4stroke fuel, but a fuel with 15% nitro and 20% oil.

Never mind!!! On further examination I found the intake manifold on the right side is cracked [:@].
I started it back up and found that right after start I could get 9200 rpm, but then it spit sputtered and dropped. Obviously the right cylinder was leaning out. So I'm going to order the parts and hope it solves my problem.
The valves checked ok. ( could get a .002" gage, but not the .004") Let me know if this is wrong!!
Thanks for your input guys!!

RE: Saito 90TS
I have a saito 90t also (older style with 2 carbs and baught it mounted on a giantscale planes p26 - peashooter. The plane is new and the motor is older but runs great. The p-26 has a wingspan of 71" I really don't think it is enough engine. The plane calls for a 90 - 120 4 stroke. Would love to run the plane on it. Anyone think it will be enough to fly this bird? IF not I am going to try and trade it for a 120 saito.

Sorry I'm so long getting back to you; had a major system crash, finally I have my mail program back up.
I thought there had to be something wrong with your engine, I suspect the pipes were crushed in the same incident that cracked the intake.
Glad you found the problem.
Bill.
