Hey all, new to the scene
I've always wanted a heli but could never bring myself to get a gas one, then I saw these new electric deals and took the plunge and bought a dragonfly off of the guy in hong kong on Ebay. It arrived in 4 days and I had it out of the box and doing short bunny hops in 2 days...then I broke a main rotor blade and tail rotor blade when I flew to close to a metal pole in the basement. I'm currently waiting for the drafting store to open tomorrow so I can buy a 3 sided scale to balance the blades with. Anyways! here's the quesiton, once I get the blades balanced and am looking good again, do you think it would be beneficial to try to fly outside if it's not too windy? I've been practicing in like a 7ft X 7ft area and it just seems to not be enough room to get the hang of it.

RE: Hey all, new to the scene
It's a good idea to have as much room as possible. I'm flying a Hornet which is my first micro. I have about 6 choppers under my belt, most of them nitro and one electric (LMH Corona). It's surprising how much training is required to fly a micro. I tried flying mine inside (about the same size area). The problem is before you get the oscillations under control you run out of room. I found that if I moved outside I had more room to correct mistakes. And obviously less thing to run into. Just be sure there is VERY little, if any, wind. I also fly light park flyers (fixed wing) and they can't tolerate much wind either. After you become more proficient you can probably handle a little more wind. The other thing that helps is collective pitch. I saw a CP Hornet fly at the IRCHA Jamboree in Muncie this summer which is what prompted me to get the Hornet. I couldn't believe you could fly a light weight like that in 10-15 MPH wind!

I'm just working on getting the new blades balanced now I'm going to go ahead and learn to balance them. I did order some pre-balanced carbon fiber blades so we'll see. yeah outside is my next move[8D]
