SR Tail rotor trim
Hi Heli Pros !
Continuing with "exquisetly bad " learning to fly CP with my SR, seriously though while a slow process it's been a great time.
My SR- since new the rudder trim has been set maybe 4-5 clicks to the left for solid straight ahead heading hold in a hover.
Now it requires the rudder trim all the way to the left.
The obvious things just like if it was a plane woulld be something got dinged, knocked out of place, bent, etc. I searched for without any luck.
Last time out I looked again and tugging on the tail rotor blades one of them came off in my hand. I havent flown the SR since replacing the tail rotor, I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on what to look at, do you think the tail rotor blade was weak and causing a degradation of performance, any input appreciated.
Hey, are superior gyros available for direct drive tail rotors like we have ? This 110 is okay, and I have the same question for tail rotor motors. The heli is fine for my learning needs ,I love it, it even looks good. However, when it's time to replace something anyway if there's superior goodies available....well I'm just sick that way .
Just like those pretty blue anodized parts I don't need .
Somebody ! Make them STOP !! Doug

RE: SR Tail rotor trim
When you replace the tail rotor make sure it not on back wards otherwise it will run fast and over heat and then not hold. If the blade came off when you touched it it was prob. cracked and thats why it was so hard to hold the tail.

RE: SR Tail rotor trim
Thanks kzguns, I was hoping it was something like that.
Funny how different people use different ways to remember how to ido certain things, such as install a standard prop or tail rotor blade. My first model with an engine was a c/l Cox P-40 Warhawk. I rememember looking at the prop from the front and how the old schooll "spring starter" oriented itself on the blade....it works Doug
p.s.-Mentor on the lake ! I'll bet you folks get all the wind. If you ever need an indoor place to fly I have access to our armory all but one weekend a month, so 28 days/mo. 12 months a year, it's a full size basketball court with about a 40 foot ceiling, ceiling completely clear of obstacles for a good 30 feet.
