Question TMAXX 3.3 Newbie with problems

Im new to the RC World and need some assistance. I was given a non-running TMAXX 3.3. I took the truck to a RC Hobby store over an hour away. Gathered some info about what to do to improve. One guy pushed down on the chassis and the engine/transmissions gears did not move giving him the conclusion that the engine may be seized. I took the engine apart and replaced a broke piece, so now the engine no longer has the "seized" affect. You can push down on the chassis and the gears will turn unlike before. If you hand push the truck the transmission/engine gears will fully rotate and you can feel them "catch". When I try to EZ Start those gears just jostle back and forth and not fully turning. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I dont see where you can tell about the engine by pushing the truck, other then seeing if your clutch shoes
are riding the bell.
The only way that the truck should move is by the engine running & revving engaging the o-way
bearing in the tranny.
The truck should never move when trying to start the engine!...

If you "push down" on the truck compressing the suspension you're not moving the truck forwards or backwards so the gears won't move. If you push the truck forwards or backwards the spur gear on the transmission will rotate and so will the clutchbell gear (that's on the engine) since it meshes with the spur gear.

Notice the word clutchbell. Underneath that clutchbell is a clutch that will not engage until the motor reaches a certain rpm. If it was engaged the engine would be rotating when you push the truck and the truck would be moving forward or backward when trying to start the engine. The clutchbell and spur gear will move around when trying to start the engine due to vibrations but they shouldn't be rotating. So sounds normal to me.

What part inside the engine did you replace?

As far as the EZ start goes just ditch it and go with a pull start and glow starter. Those EZ starts are more trouble than they are worth. If you get a pull start on there and pull it a few times you can feel better what's going on inside the engine, too. Did you replace the connecting rod? Those are the most common engine part on TRX engines to blow.
