HP .40R engine info
I am almost sure that what I have is an old pylon racing engine, HP 40R, as the one here http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils...#F3DEngineHP40P, however, when I looked at the piston, it's much different than the HP40R-PR on the website.
Does anyone know what engine I really have?
Any info on it, like power rating, fuel type and such?
Thanks.

RE: HP .40R engine info
A friend had one, back in the mid 70's, after flying and liking the front intake version...both had a single ring piston.
We test ran it with a 9x6 TF wood prop and 10% nitro fuel. I don't know if that was the proper set-up or not...I was 15-16 years old then and a lotta water has passed under the bridge since then... but I remember the "throttle" didn't work all that well...like a 5000 to 6000 r.p.m. "idle" (it is a pylon engine after all...it doesn't really need to "idle" does it!?
I remember we were a bit disappointed in the top end...around 16,000 or so...but with a better pylon style prop and if you actually know what you're doing (we didn't ) you might do substantially better with yours...good luck. (hopefully someone will have some more helpful experience )
