EZ start trouble
Hey, im having some trouble with my EZ start. At first everything was running fine, I had my engine tuned by an experienced person and everything was running fine after that. A while after my truck stopped starting. I noticed my blue glow plug wire was all frayed and rusted so I bought a glow ignitor instead since the blue wires werent available. My truck started up and was running perfectly like normal but then one day it just stopped. No matter what i did the engine did not want to start. I then prepped the engine so it would be ok to be left on the shelf for a while. About a month later i came back to it and it started on the first push of the button. It was running fine for about a week and then it just stopped again. So i bought the blue wire and when i do a test for the glow plug, it doesnt even get hot. Even when i try it with my ignitor it still doesnt start up but the plug gets hot. My engine sounds like it wants to start but it just doesnt. Anybody? Thanks.

RE: EZ start trouble
Maybe its time for a new sleeve and piston. How is the compression?
The blue wire only provides positive to the glow plug, you will need to connect it to the engine's body (ground) to provide the negative current for it to light up. Your glow plug igniter has a positive center and negative shaft. (or vise versa)
Its also a good idea to put the blue wires inside a silicone tubing (fuel tubing) to protect it from heat and prevent a short.

Turn the flywheel by hand, if its easy to turn then it has no or low compression, if its hard then its has good compression. Do this with the glow plug on tight.
The blue wire plugs into the part of the glow plug that sticks out, there is another wire from the ez start that goes into the engine body, (I think this is white & its sheilded). When testing if the ez start give power to the glow plug igniter (blue wire) remove the glow plug but keep the blue wire plugged into it, just touch the side if it to the engine block or cooling head to make a negative ground contact then activate the ez start to see if the glow plug lights up.

Ok so if i push the fly wheel forward it is easy to push but at some points it gets harder but then it gets easier. Sometimes i hear a popping sound when pushing it. Pulling the flywheel back is very hard to do. I cant get the glow plug wire to light up no matter what. I tried all that stuff and nothing lit up the plug.

RE: EZ start trouble
Ok so i just got it started. Problem is i had to prime it for a while and when it started running for about 5 seconds it turned off. I think i have a compression problem, but that still doesnt explain the glow plug wire not working. I also took the cooling head off to check if it was on right cause i chipped the cooling head the day before it stopped working. Now that i cleaned it and tightend everything up, whenever i try starting it, it starts to smoke up. Im really confused now.

I dont think that it's a compression problem as you said it ran fine. If you have a compression problem it will start and run until the engine reaches it's operating temp then it will either die or start to loose a lot of power and seem very sluggish. It will have problems starting when hot and will idle horribly, and you didnt say anything about any of this. You said it runs fine for one week then stops running for a week, and then runs fine for another week, it sounds more like a tuning issue then anything.
From week to week the ambient temps can change drastically, humidity ambient temp along with a whole other host of things will cause a tunning issue if they change a lot. Also the way you said it started up for 5 seconds then shut off sounds like a tuning issue that can be resolved without buying a new piston/sleeve or a whole new engine. As if it is a tuning issue then you will end up having the same problem with that motor as every engine needs to be tuned, so buying a new enigne wont help things if this is whats the problem.
Also I would stay away from the blue wire and just use the glow ignitor that you bought. It saves your ez-starts battery and makes the glow plug much warmer then that blue wire is going to make it, making starting a little bit easier. You can try another glow plug and see if thats the problem but I doubt that it is the problem, because of what you have said about it running fine for a week then not running.
As I said before it sounds like a tuning issue to me.

Dude you r definitely spittin k-nowledge.. also check your pins in end of the eletrictronic starter they do move mine did and it happened to be the one that connects to the blue wire, might not be the problem but i treat it as part of the car when haveing starting problems
