Digital for throttle?

RE: Digital for throttle?
I'd use a precision servo, neither that you reference is considered a precision servo.
However a digital of any sort is a far cry better than a standard analog counterpart.
I'd recommend a Hitec Karbonite servo. I use the 5975HB or 6965HB on my stuff.
I use fast precise servos, whereas in today’s world of 3D you want repeatable, precise fast throttle response. Also pay careful attention to the linkage setup, the arms should be at least equal in length to realize 120 degrees travel arc for reasonable resolution without utilizing less than 100% end-points. You may want to work with a throttle curve to get it just right thereafter.

RE: Digital for throttle?
The JR 811 works well for me - rated at 50-60 in ozs
occasionally you replace the gears - big deal-
as for speed - why bother -speed rating in this application means zip
Whe I see speed ratings under a specified load - then I will get interested as it stands - ----------fergitit
Linkage to throttle should be a free easy ,movement - All the servo should do is provide accurate , even throttle blade movement
75%of all throttle linkages I see are really awful.
And the servo gets the blame.

RE: Digital for throttle?
I just replaced the throttle servo in my 27% Extra with a Hitec HS-5475HB. I has about 10 flights on it and seems to be working fine. It is digital with the Karbonite gears, dual bb's, 61 oz, .23 sec. , and cost $35. Seems like a good application to me.

RE: Digital for throttle?
What Mike said.
Go to the next level and use a better servo than you normally would for throttle.
It is noticeable, especially for bigger engines and 3D/precision type flying_bob

RE: Digital for throttle?
As Dick said linkage first , then the servo . Go for ball links at both ends and NO slop, flex or side movement in your throttle line .
I like to stick with the Hitech 5475HB , I've had great sucess with this servo on 140RX for pattern and also on a ZDZ80 for IMAC .
You see to many peolpe stuffing around for hours trying to tune a nice even idle when the sum of their problems is the fact that they used a poor old servo which was not good enough for anything else . good gear = good performance .

I use Futaba 9101 nylon gear, high speed coreless non-digital. Very precise and rather cheap. If money was no issue, then what Michael said.
