wing stretch
I am running out of taskes to do on my twin boom trainer (see thread on how to kit bash a twin elsewhere in this forum) and will soon have to work on the wing, question is, how far to stretch the wing. I had planned to make the wing the same squares as Ziroli's P38 (the project is loosely based on this plane). The Ziroli has 1625 Sq In, my ugly stick wing currently has 1283.5 Sq In which calles for a 20" extention at each tip, 75.5"+ 20"= 95.5" and it has a 17" cord (not counting aileron area). Projected weight to be between 30 and 40 lbs (this is a testing platform and equipment subject to change) here is some math
ugly stick wing 75.5" chord 17" sq in 1283.5 weight 30-40 lb
Ziroli p 38 114" Double taper sq in1625 36-40 lb
difference of 341.5" divided by 17" equals 20" + 75.5= 95.5"
average 30-40=35x16=560oz

Bill:
Like your shop wall. The plane doesn't look too bad either.
If it's not too late, add yourwing area by making a new center section. Build it with full sheeting, leave the open bays outboard of the booms. The center is where you need to add strength, and this way you add area at the same time.
Twinman is the one who "Gets Off" on twin fuselage bashes, maybe he'll come in here. He's done a lot of them.
How 'bout it, George?
Bill.

That is the family friendly wall, suitable for posting here, this place is where I go to relaxe, nothing more relaxing than beautiful women and carving balsa.
The center section is already sheeted and I plan to add a rear spar and shear webbing (rear) to the wing and the whole wing will be sheeted.
