Convert a G-38 to electronic ignition?
Can anyone tell me if it would be worth it to convert a G-38 to EI and where is the best place to get it converted? Also... I have heard that Zenoahs run much better if they are balanced by an aftermarket professional. Anyone have any comments on that?
Thanks,
Thanks,

G-38
Ch Electronics has an bolt on ignition set up for the G-38. Counter rotating is also possible. Bad new is the cost.
Most Zenoahs are balanced correctly, but the G-38 has a long hub and a prop strike can twist the crank. A crooked engine is a vibrator for sure

Convert a G-38 to electronic ignition?
Both RC ignition and CH electronics make conversions for the G38......I beleive RC Ign do the conversion and I have used the CH bolt on set up successfully.......
Whether its worth it to you is a personal decision...It wont add much to the top end,it will smooth out the midrange some, and it will improve the idle and hand starting (no backfire) quite a bit.....some significant weight savings too ,Im not sure exactly how much on the G 38,but its about 10oz on a Quadra 400 or Ryobi .
I have never heard of any magic aftermarket balancing procedure for the G38 or any other two stroke single for that matter.....

Don't give up on RC ignition! He does a beautiful job for the G-38. The ignition is self-contained in a custom aluminum back plate/mount. It is the smoothest running best starting gas engine I have! An electronic ignition will really smooth out a magneto engine.
