Default 3.3 sort of starts.

My 3.3 will turn over forever without starting. If I hit the throttle it will start and run as long as the throttle is on, but as soon as I release the throttle is dies immediately. Any suggestions?

first check ur controller to make sure ur throttle trim is zeroed, then try turning in ur idle screw....keep turning it in 1/4 turns at a time until you dont need the throttle to start the engine then once it running if it creeps forward on you turn it back until it stops moving.......anything past that is a tad technical for me without actually having my ear and hands on it.......someone here will likely be able to help you more so then i......but until you get some more replies its at least some where to start which hopefully will help.......good luck!

I will definately give this a try, you may be on to something. However, it's important to note that my idle screw is set to approximately factory settings. Which is roughly 1mm of gap.

factory settings only matter if ur at the factory they are just a base guideline.......air pressure, altitude, and temperature all play a factor on the way these lil nitro engines run!!

Per-heating the engine before cranking should help to keep it runnuing until you can get it tuned.

I had the same problem and I know this might sound basic but change the glow plug.  Mine did exactly the same thing and with a new glow plug I was up and running. [8D]

guys

dun know if this helps but the traxxas break-in video states that during break-in the glow plug is prone to fouling by crud and it's completely normal.

i've not broken in many engines and cannot confirm this but this could be the root of your problem. personally i strip down every engine and clean it throughly and relube before starting it.

other than that, it could be a tune problem. it's also a good idea to pre-heat the engine as arlorogers says and if the pinch is excessive as my 3.3 is, you can also loosen the plug during start-up.

read the manual, watch the traxxas video also other videos on break-in and tuning. hpi and squirrel plus other guys out there have great tips to share on youtube. with nitro, you have to be very detailed in your approach to running them otherwise you'll have loads of problems.

cheers
