Default gliders into rc fliers?

Well i have no other place to put this so. i am going make a free flight glider into a rc airplane. I'm wondering if anyone else as done this, and what glider they used. I'm planning on building a f-105 or f-86 saber. I have heard of some good gliders, but they are pretty expensive, i dont want anything over $10. I might even just put some electric motors on the puppy and just stick my gear in and fly her, no modifications, except to change the CG. And also, if you have done this before, what did you wake it into? Peace

The F-105 glides like a brick doesn't. I don't recall seeing ANY unpowered version, but probably some slope flyer has one somewhere.

If you want to check out free-flights to convert check out Peck Polymer's site at http://www.peck-polymers.com/

If your limit is $10 you might want to invest in a knife so you can rob a liquor store to get the $100 you'll need for even the simplest transmitter, receiver, servo (rudder only) and battery for the radio set. That's before the plane.

Agreed pretty much all jet fighters glide like bricks. However you can convert a glider to R/C
Try here:

My second piece of advice is to get a bigger budget.
If you want to fly R/C. getting started is going to go far beyond ten dollars. However once in, you can use inexpensive items and materials to make models that fly quite well.

I'm still working on this.

Thud:

This is the original "Lead Sled". Pilots didn't even try to TURN them if it could be avoided! You out ran the Migs. I'm serious. Fast, in a straight line. If it flamed out you bailed ASAP. Zero glide. None. Stubby, swept back wings.

Glider:

Lots of wing area to weight. Straight wings.

Hey, if it's your dream go for it. Doesn't matter what glider you choose as it will need to be so modified as to be unrecognizable anyway when you're done.

Tower Hobbies sells a 4' wingspaned foam glider for $7 ? the wings are swept back. looks like a jet airliner.
I keep about 3 planes ready to toss around the yard or park in 3 seconds time.

Best frigging glider you can buy!! It can be powered. It will teach you more about flying and balancing a plane than 1 year on any RC forum.

Buy it. The wings can be cut and the body cut, both sanded to any swept wing fighter.

Enjoy flying.
