I absolutely love the ones Aeromarine offers. Very solid and strong latch system.

Personally i prefer the magnets theyre invisible and strong and i can buy 50 for less than the hatch fasteners .Plus in a crash or flip your canopy if it does come off wont get damaged.

Oi Mart you mean Neodymium Magnets, I want to get some for my next boat project. If so I would think they would be better than cowl or hatch locks. ???

Magnets or O-rings work great, they don't ruin your boat during a flip.
I used too big of O-ring on my Lazer though and now I have a 2 piece cowl!
Aeromarines don't release at all so if the flip is bad enough something is going to break. Used to use them, too many repairs!.

Yes Henry those are the ones heres the place i got mine,im sure you can get them over there but just to give you an idea what to look for.You dont need big ones either the small ones have like 3-6 kg of pull on them apparently, mine are 1/16" thick and about 1/2" diam sorry for the old school measurements lol. They wont let go but in a violent flip theyre suposed to but they wont damage the lid as theyre just glued in place no holes etc.

For anybody searching this thread in the future, just a tip: Consider gluing a piece of flotation to to the underside of the canopy just in case.

An ebay search will turn up available cowl locks - but the downside is they're not entirely waterproof. I don't keep my boat on it's feet enough to go without tape yet... Maybe when I slow down

I just purchased 20 of these little magnets. Came delivered for $12.00! Holy cow are they strong! Bought the 3/4" think they are about 1/16 wide and have MORE than enough gripping power. Now I just need to glass up a boat for myself just to give em' a try .

Once I install these, could be as early as a few days as nothinbetr2do needs a new hatch. May as well use them for that. Looks like I'm never looking back at regular locks from what I see so far.
