RE: problem with Castle side winder speed control
You aren't doing anything wrong; it's the electronics you chose to install in your touring car. In this case, the arming time for the speed control is not long enough for the Spektrum radio system. When the Spektrum Radio is swtiched on, it needs a moment to "talk" to the receiver to locate a clear frequency. This ends up being longer than the default arming time of the Sidewinder speed control, which is 1.5 seconds. This issue is easy to resolve thanks to the programmability Castle Creations builds into its speed controls. The arming time in the Sidewinder is adjustable and can be simply accessed with Castle Creations Castle Link. The default arming time is 1.5 seconds, try switching to 2.5 seconds.
I've had this problem before with it too....Even the guys at my LHS couldn't figure out...I found the solution in Radio Control Car Action magazine...it was a coincidence, I was reading it and found out about this problem and finally fixed it after purchasing the Castle Link.
Hope this helps if it happens again next time.
