Looks likes OS wants everyone to shell out the $280 for the .21 since they discontinued the .18. For that kinda jack I'll be putting in a 523 when my .18 dies. Why would'nt they just market both enigines?

The .18tm is being discontinued and the .21tm will be it's replacement. I'm sure you'll still be able to get your hands on the .18tm for a while though, it'll take some time before everyone runs out of them.

I had one heck of a time finding a .18 for my T-Maxx. I finally found one on an online store in Florida, at the time (month ago) he only had 4 left and none were coming in.

as I understand you will still be able to get the O.S. .18 tm......just with the Revo pipe and not the T-Maxx pipe. Why they call the Revo engine a "TM" is beyond me.

again, where's the proof that OS is discontinuing it?
press release, email from os, anything except a rumor?
just because tower quit carrying it is not proof that os quit making it
nor is your word proof unless you happen to work for os - but, again, where's the proof?

if you really want a os .18tm go to amainhobbies.com they still have some for tmaxx and revo. if you want one for the tmaxx and you can onli find revo ones just get a pipe and it will have the header for the tmaxx

I was told by my LHS that they were discontinued too. I bought one form amainhobbies.com about 1 month ago. The following quote is right from the OS website: "OSMG2115 includes: One O.S. Max 18TM Engine with T-Maxx Manifold, LC3 glow plug, 11K slide valve carburetor, manifold spring, rubber exhaust gasket, sticker sheet and instruction manual." So maybe Tower is not going to carry them anymore? Anyway, try amainhobbies. It cost me $144 a month ago. Engine has so much more power than my old 3.3. Great upgrade.

is there a big difference in power between the .18 and .21?
ps for tm is 1.6 and ps for .21 is 1.8? much difference?

yup,posted that about 2 weeks ago,18tm discontinued for the t-maxx so far,figure the set up for the revo is next,and engine parts mysteriously went up for the 18tm as well.so now it sits in a box waiting till i can find a good price on a p/s or find some one who wants a parts engine

just because something is discontinued does not mean it magically disappears,plenty of out of the way shops have them tucked away,as far as parts o.s. still has parts for engines from 20-30 years ago,you will still be able to get ,for a price of course..to me right the engine would cost way too much to rebuild at this time[&o]i loved that little engine,best small block i ever owned,it will be missed[sm=cry_smile.gif]

I hope its not been discontinued, its a great engine which in my opinion has loads of power for the maxx and revo!!
A .21 is gonna destroy the stock drive train, surely you'll need to do some mods in order to run that motor on your traaxas

nah!.21 wont destroy your revo's drive train,i have run a .26maxx and a rb 323 in my 2.5 revo,have replaced nothing in the stock drive train,

Guys, I wouldnt worry about it even if its true. First off, OS still has the engine on their site. Second, OS has a reputation for keeping parts available for legacy engines. 3rd, they still advertise the .18tm for the REVO. Same as the T-MAXX .18, but with a different header. So if thats the case, you can buy the REVO .18, and use your existing T-MAXX .18 header, or buy another after market header. Also parts are the same, so since they will be available for the REVO, you can still buy parts. I wouldnt sweat it. If its still on OS's web site, and the words "Discontinued" are not present, then it appears its still available. Again, they will have parts if so, and the REVO engine is still available which is the same as the MAXX's. Dont sweat it.

A traxxas 3.3 or 2.5 p/s and one way bearing fit it, they are cheap as on feabay. I have a traxxas pullstart on mine.

I guess that the following statement is hearsay, but, I recently bought one (see post #8 ) and had a scare with it...noises and such, it turned out to be a bad OWB.
Any-who...I called O.S. about the problem and asked specifically why the .18 tm/with the t-maxx pipe was being discontinued.
The person at O.S. said that all the parts will be available separately (I.E. engine and T-Maxx pipe) but the "kit" that includes the engine and pipe together will be discontinued. WHY? They said to make "room" for the .21.

Relax....everything will be available for the T-Maxx.....but the cost will be higher buying the parts separately

I'm sorry but i am not paying $270 for a new engine. They need to keep stocking the .18's even if they do not have the header combo.
