g62 vs zdz80
I have just bought my first gasser a g62 with magnito ignition.
It starts easy enough but vibrates something horrid . The prop
is balanced.I think it"s a bit cruel for my 30% Glens cap 232.
Could anyone tell me if a zdz80 would be nicer in the vibes dept
and also are the weights similar.

Send it to Ralph at RCIgnition and ask him to install his ignition system in it. The variable timing will smooth it down quite a bit at lower rpms, and make it a whole lot easier to start as well. Another option is to install the CH ignition, same results. But Ralph does a really nice conversion.

You really cant compare a ZDZ 80 and a g62.The zenoah is a converted industrial engine with fixed timing.the zdz is a designed for purpose model aircraft engine,is lighter, and comes with a rear rotor intake and an electronic variable timing, not to mention the extra 20cc.As a matter of fact the zdz 60 is superior to the zenoah in every way.Shipping the zenoah from the uk to have it converted makes no sense to me........you still will have a g62.Sell it and buy the zdz ......you wont be sorry.......
and yes i have owned g62 and currently own a zdz 60

Kevin:
You are right...I did not notice when I posted that Golden Blunder was in England...!
However, what I said was true, that Ralph does a really fine conversion of the G62. I was and am very pleased with mine.
I wonder how much it would cost to ship a G62 from England to the US and then back again? It might not be too bad, since it is not uncommon for guys in the US to buy engines in Europe because they are sometimes cheaper there.

I brought a ZDZ 60 in from Germany and air freight was about $40 one way last year.
What I am saying is that if a person is buying a new engine, getting a g62 and adding two way freight and the conversion charges to convert to a variable timing ignition makes no sense compared to buying a ZDZ of the same size ......I do agree that R/C ignition make a really neat tidy conversion and Ralph stands 100% behind his product, but the numbers only work if you already own a g62 and want to inprove its starting and idling performance particularly......Zenoah have been really greedy with the price increases over the last few years IMO,with little real improvement of the product they sell, and they are getting caught off base by the many producers of really good quality variable timing engines.

THANKS
Thanks for all the advice guys it has helped me make the
decision to buy the zdz.Even though my plane was designed
around the g62 i do think the motor rather crude.A smoother
running engine should help the whole plane last longer.
I wish i had known this before purchase.

Notice you were comparing the ZDZ 80 to the G62. I was told the ZDZ 60 was comparable, but had a bad habit of being difficult to start. Any inputs on this would be appreciated.
