Default Using a regular size ESC with stock 18R motor, okay?

Is it okay to use a regular size ESC with a micro size motor such as the stocker in an 18R? We have a local 18R spec class and it allows you to change out the receiver and ESC, but not much else. It's clear that those who have changed out the ESC have an advantage in speed and acceleration. I don't really feel like shelling out $50 for a Novak Spy. Can I use a regular sized ESC to power my stock "Super 370" motor?

For future reference ~ when you are asking the question threats seldom work.

Well, sorry to offend, if I did. I'm not sure I'd exactly see this as a threat, but rather, an instance of my strange sense of humor. Going Ferris meant I would say...

Bueller? Beuller?

But, whatever...Thanks for the info!

Is it just me or has this forum died off a lot in the last 3-6 months?
