RE: BVM Hatch Latches - Mounting w/Aeropoxy ?
Bob,
Make sure you trap the base flange with a small fillet of Aeropoxy all the way around the edge of the latch. You can apply the Aeropoxy to the faying surface of the hatch latch so the adhesive flows through the holes in the base flange to act as rivets. Scuff the fiberglass with some 80 grit and wash with alcohol before bonding. It doesn't hurt to break the gloss of the latch surface either.
The new adhesive "Vpoxy", dries/cures in half the time as Aeropoxy does and cures clear...same strength as Aeropoxy, but is slightly less thixotropic....you can penetrate glass cloth with it a little easier. It doesn't sag either. At Florida Jets we repaired a burned edge of a bypass tube with the Vpoxy and carbon fiber cloth...worked far better than Aeropoxy because of the reduced viscosity. Penetrates wood fibers a little better too.

Thanks for the replies/info guys. Last night (before I got your replies) I mounted one on a scrap piece of fiberglass skin. Checked it this morning ..... super strong .... it will have to be destroyed or grinded off .... to get it to seperate. Thanks. Bob
