Newbie Help Please!
I'm pretty much a complete newbie when it comes to RC stuff like this. I have some experience with cheaper rc cars like xmods etc. but nothing like most of the cars here. I'm looking to get a car (probably 1/10th scale). My primary interests are rally and drifting in terms of rc. Is there anyway that one car could do both of these fairly well and easily. If anybody could point me in the right direction I would be much appreciative. I'm on a budget as well so the cheaper the better. If anyone has anything they are trying to sell please let me know as well. Thanks!

no it can either be a drift car or a rally car. i have a drift car but im sure if you put different tires on it it could get more traction to be an onroad car. this hobby is addictive once you start you cant stop

I guess rally would really be first then, as I think it would be easier for me to find off road space than on road space. I was gonna make a track in my back yard. So no way it could go between rally and drift/onroad?

well no you can buy a stadium truck or truggy to race in your back yard. and then get an on road car( 4 wheel drive) and swith tires from drift to traction. and a good rally car would be a tamiya rally car. http://www.youtube.com/user/JBIRD199...51/ndcK4l_HHBI heres the video of mine its a blast heres another

any opinions on this? So why wouldn't a rally car like that work for drifting with drift tires and maybe stiffer suspension? Sitting too high?

RE: Newbie Help Please!
well if i had to chose one, i would pick this one.
http://baltimore.craigslist.org/tag/1664246682.html
its a good price for a drift car then it has rubber wheels for a rally car, and also has 4 batteries and charger so its the complete package.
i am not sure that the CENS are good quality or not but the one above would be the best for the description you wanted.
and its 4 wheel drive

RE: Newbie Help Please!
The only thing I'd worry about is the ground clearance for racing off road. The other tamiya rally cars seem to have more ride height.

I'm not seriously into drifting, but I can have plenty of fun with a 1/16 Slash VXL with the tires partially wrapped with electrical tape. I see no reason why one of the DF-03RA cars wouldn't fit your needs perfectly. Just drop the preload on the suspension to minimum and get a cheap set of drift tires and you should be good to go. It won't offer competition level drifting balance, but it will work better as a drifter than a drifter would work as a rally car.

its ok all though i would definetly recomend the car i said b4. but its up to you. the hpi car you may need to get other things to get it to switch from drift to rally but the other it comes with everything to start out.

Yeah, the HPI I definitely need a remote etc. But it is a legitimate rally car. Im just worried about the clearance on the Ken Block one as sweet of a deal as that one seems though hah

RE: Newbie Help Please!
ya also once u put the rally tires on it, it get way more clearance and if u want more adjust the suspension
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPIgg...eature=related
yous should get plenty of clearance to do this

RE: Newbie Help Please!
pretty easy usually u just need bigger shocks or make the shocks stiffer. and with the rally tires on that car it would be ok the way it was so its like 2 cars in one.
