Default Heat Blanket

Hi Guy's
I found this at the auto store good for 1100 degres and very light weight and you get 3 ft for about 15 bucks, worth the safety perfect to run wires pass the pipe area

"soldering mat" image search
It's quite heavy but will withstand direct flame from a blow torch

Why do you need heat shield when you wont fly them? I guess ground running might over heat something. LOL Dan

Anyone here in the UK found a reasonable priced alternative heat proof blanket product to wrap around jet pipes as opposed to BVM type stuff?

Hi Dave, no the actual stuff they use to wrap the jet tubes in to protect the fuselage from heat, over here they call it BVM Ceramic Blanket, it's about £13 for a 12x24" piece, don't sound a lot but it is when you need more of it.

cheers,

Vince.

I ordered mine from Wicks Aircraft Supply. It's the same as the BVM blanket except 1/16" is slightly thicker. What BVM sells is 1 mm. thick. The price is very reasonable, $4.34 per foot off a 24 inch wide roll. You might want to check the aircraft supply businesses in the UK to see if they carry Fiberfrax material.

Hi,

Two layers of regular ol' Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil, wrinkled up (to make air pockets between the two layers) and tacked together with CA or RTV. That's the best heat blanket I've ever used. It's also the least expensive....
