New Product: Draganfly Extreme Battery System
Hey everyone, I hope you are enjoying your Draganflyers.
In an effort to make them even better, we've been experimenting with SAVS batteries. We've discovered that the 2100mAh pack provides much better climp rates and is more capable of dealing with the wind. At the same time, we are seeing about a 40% flight time increase over the 1320mAh pack. The 2100mAh pack flies the SAVS better and longer.
The 2100mAh pack would be slow to charge on the standard yellow Draganflyer charger, though. We took the attitude that if a better battery is an improvement, then a drastically better battery system is worth assembling. I introduce the ultimate Draganflyer SAVS battery system:
Thunder Power 3s 2100mAh (battery)
Rip Max Pro Peak 20A (power supply)
Thunder Power 1010C (charger)
Thunder Power 205V (balancer)
-All wiring and cables pre-made and of the highest quality possible
Charge time: 20-25 minutes
Charge safety features: Cell count verification, over-imbalance shutdown, cell over-voltage shutdown
Available in our Parts Warehouse

RE: New Product: Draganfly Extreme Battery System
Clarifying a few points about this system...
The 1010C charger can charge any lithium polymer battery.
The 1010C charger can charge any Draganflyer battery very easily.
The 1010C charger can be powered by the Pro Peak power supply, or any 11-15VDC power source (like your car's battery).
The Pro Peak power supply turns 110VAC into 13.8VDC.

RE: New Product: Draganfly Extreme Battery System
So, can I buy a 2100 mAh pack and charge it with the Yellow charger (no matter how slow)?
Do you sell those packs as a single for DF? I mean only the battery with the proper connector.
Thanks

ElVela,
you can use the yellow charger...but it pays to get a better one. (balance charger)
I've been using the 2000 Mah and 2100Mah since May.
I'm getting about 18 min flights, and lots more power.
I wrote about it and charging them in this post http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4233391/tm.htm
you can pick up the connector from DF or Spectrolutions and just buy the batteries if you want.

RE: New Product: Draganfly Extreme Battery System
ElV, as Lacey answered, our yellow charger will work with the 2100mAh battery, but charge times will be quite long (well over an hour). We will consider adding the 2100mAh battery with connector and velcro to our store, but in the mean time you can buy the Thunder Power 3s 2100mAh battery and the Draganflyer connector in our Parts Warehouse, and specify in the Comments that you would like the connector and velcro installed.

RE: New Product: Draganfly Extreme Battery System
Sorry about my ignorance, but which is the charging rate to have the battery charged in 20-25 min?
I thought a charging rate over 1C could damage the lipos. And if at 1C it needs 1h to charge...
Can this battery be charged at 3C without damage? And the 1320mAh too?
Thanks

RE: New Product: Draganfly Extreme Battery System
With the Draganflyer Extreme Battery System there is no downside to charging at 3C. In the past, 3C charging has been dangerous because of the lack of safety features. Our new System has safety features that make it very safe. The current generation of Thunder Power batteries has been tested at 3C and shown to have the same cycle life as 1C charging.
