Hi Denny,
It looks like the new battery got rid of the power loss problem, but now it won't come down at all
Thanks for the video.

It was a battery and now that one is used only for the wireless receiver. I have to say I never saw the cable coming. It tumbled down the tree thank heaven or it would have been way out of reach. The branch looked funny wrapped around one of the rotors. You can see it took me awhile to get it down with my retrieving stick.[&:]

SAVS, what was your location relative to the DF when that happened? If you weren't under it then I would say your spatial judgement or lack of depth perception caused that because you couldn't really tell how far away you were from those lines. I did that when trying to fly through some goal posts at that stadium where I usually fly. You just can't tell if you are on the inside or outside of the posts when flying perpendicular to your position on the ground. My rotors clipped one of the posts and you know what happened next. I'll have to post that video some time. That almost happened again at our larger baseball stadium but this time it was one of those 200 ft tall concrete light poles. I thought I was going to fly past it on the side facing me but the DF was farther out than I thought and when the DF dissappeard behind it, I realized I had flown past the outer side thank goodness and not directly into it. I have never tried flying past objects at that angle again. You can't go wrong if flying directly in or away from yourself.

You got some pretty cool video there before the, er, encounter! Actually, that part was pretty cool, too! Great music choice...
Glad to hear there wasn't any real damage!

I have to be lame here and say that even though I worked at that field for 4 months I never even noticed the cable hanging in the air. I saw it the same time the DF did. Lesson learned, get to know your surroundings prior to taking off. That and a gust of wind sort of blew me that way.

That was pretty slick!
Noticed the UNC reference...I will be down that way from Fredericksburg, VA for a class next weekend for 4 days. Maybe we can hook up and fly.
Great part of the video was the official aerial obstacle removeal tool....a bigger stick!

Is this what I have to look forward to when I finally get mine higher than 5 feet off the ground?

RE: Never saw it coming...
My bro-in-law just got a Helimax Axe CP and it's kinda cool. But I like my DF better. Of course I was the star when he handed me the Tx and I could hover right away.
We have been flying my DF in the basement all day long with my DF on the tether and hooked to one of those small yellow porta-starter units. Works great!! Been getting about two hours flight time out of it...stopping every fifteen or so for cool down. But I guess I am getting off topic....so that's all.

Yep, AeroRecon has probably flown over more tall trees than any of us. My DF has been trapped in trees twice so I try my bestest to not fly over them.
