Kill switch placement
Hi all, it's me again...please bear with me, as I'm a newbe with gas. I really appreciate the advice, (I'll catch on one of these days!).
I'm setting up a Fuji 32EI in my Giant Sportster and I bought two Futaba charge/on-off switches. My intention was for both to be in series to the ign battery, one as a manual, outside acessable, and the other servo actuated. I got to thinking about where to put the servo-actuated switch so as not to cause RFI. The servo will be pluged into the Rx and a plastic pushrod will operate the switch. It will be quite difficult to locate the switch up front, behind the firewall and run the pushrod back to the servo to keep everything seperated.
Would I be better off using an "optical" kill switch instead. If so, I've read these will not work with Fuji EI's, (true or not?). If I can use one, can this go to the Rx and still not generate RFI?
Man, I've got a lot to learn, (would have been a lot easier to buy that OS 180, but no where as much fun!).
Thanks again evereybody.

RE: Kill switch placement
I just bought the same engine for the same plane and I am totally lost on the Kill switch thing.. The one GP switch that Tower sells says it does not work on the EI engines.. So now what?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Eric

RE: Kill switch placement
Also, can the RCAT bring RFI back to the Rx?
Thanks!

RE: Kill switch placement
RFI is always in the mix. But the rcats switch should not increase the RFI. They are solid state switches, there is no metal contact between the actuation circuit and the actual switch. Also, the reciever lead is long enough to put the switch just about anywhere.

RE: Kill switch placement
They're in CA, I'll give 'em a call this afternoon to confirm if it'll work with Fuji. If so, it looks like the way to go.
Thanks everybody.

RE: Kill switch placement
You're welcome. I think any of the fiber optic mfg's products would work fine, but I've had 3 from RCAT and they worked well for me.............
