YS 110 to much for this plane?
I have purchased a new YS 110 the paperwork with this engine says nothing about brake in. Sense it is a ringed motor I chose to run it blubbering fat for about 18oz or so of fuel and then leaned out, but still running bout 3 to 4 clicks rich on high speed needle valve. On the break in (run bench bolted down and set in concrete!) I used a 17x4W and 20/20 fuel. Anyone have a preferred method that may be better for this pulling Clydesdale? Also I am concerned about my choice of airplane for this motor. I have mounted it in a Model Tech Excite 90. Our club has run benches that have uprights to contain airplanes on run up and tuning. The upright will contact the wing about 3 to 4 inches from the wing tips. Will this motor pull the wings off at full throttle? Or would having someone hold it be better?

You can never have too much power. You can however, have to much throttle stick. Throttle management is the key when overpowering planes. You should be just fine, be ready for a rocket. I don't beleive the wings will rip off, but for safety, if the wings are only held at the tips, you should have a spotter hold your plane.

Thanks, I assume that you are talking about flying the plane to fast, when you say too much throttle stick. LOL Thanks for answering so fast.

That's a good engine for that plane. It won't rip the wings off but if you let me try it I might be able to fold them doing a blender.
As for break-in....just fly it a little rich, two or three clicks and after about twenty flights you'll be able to lean it out a little more. You'll notice the fuel consumption go down when it breaks in also, untill then it'll really drink it down. Just keep an eye on the color of the oil residue and don't let it get dark.
