I want to become......
hi,
this may sound stupid but im young. i want to become one of those guys that gets to test the cars then write about them. it seems like a really cool job. a job that i would enjoy. sumthing like 5% of the people in the world have jobs they like. what do i need to study at uni. i want greg v's job. getting new cars all the time and stuff. so how can i become a editor. and how did you guys become involved in it.

RE: I want to become......
I'll give you a brief history about R/C Driver: most of them came from R/C Car Action, such as Greg V and Dave Baker. They had prior experience in the R/C Mag industry before starting up R/C Driver. They started off as a bi-monthly publication, then all of the sudden, from an unpredicted (though I will say very modest predictions from the R/C Driver staff) popularity surge, they rose to the top in only a couple months. I think that is "jaw-droppingly" amazing!
Also, it is not as easy as it sounds to get new vehicles and write a commentary about it in your magazine. Companies will wait and watch your maagzine as it grows before they send you free stuff. I think they usually start off by charging your R/C Mag money until your mag begins to gain popularity. Then you need advertisements to give you money for future publications and the ability to have a competent staff like R/C Driver has. Then you need PR, lawyers (GOOD ones to protect your work and company), groupies, etc. It is pretty hard work to start up a R/C magazine. I would say this industry falls in the high-risk category?? I could be wrong, because I named only a very miniscule requirement before starting up a R/C magazine company.
I am suer R/C Driver can comment on more things about this.
