Default Show me your Caps!!!

I just got a new in box 85" Cap 232 and I will be picking it up this weekend. Is anyone still flying these? Lets see some pics of your past or present caps. I have always been a fan of these planes and I am finally able to get my hands on one. I will be sure to post a bit of a "retro build thread" if you will.

Ok...er...sure, why not?

Oh...wait...is that not what you meant??? Sorry

Here's a kit built (Lanier) Cap 232 I did a couple years ago. Sadly it's no longer with me. Builder error. The kit itself was top notch. The color scheme was Nicolas Ivanoff's back when he flew a 232 in the RBARWS.

I was planning to start the build today but the weather was too good so I spent the evening flying. Looks like that will be the story this whole week. I will have some time off over the weekend so I will get it going soon. I just need to buy some horns and turn buckles. The electronics and engine are coming from my 50cc edge so it should go somewhat smoothly I hope. I have yet to unwrap everything. Most of it has not been touched since Tom looked it over in march of 2007

Well I have about 15 flights on it and so far so good. Still battling with the cg a little bit though. It is a bit too tail heavy for my liking and I have the batteries and ignition in the motor box...I have had to add some lead to the front to get it to balance out and it seems to need a bit more. I have it just under 17lbs and would like to keep it that way so I am not sure what I will do. I am thinking about getting a carbon fiber wing tube to lose some weight and allow for some more lead in the nose. It needs around 4 clicks or so of down elevator for level upright flight which I don't like but it is getting better the more I move the cg forward. It flies extremely stable though and it practically lands itself.

I once read that one could use slightly longer stand-offs for the engine. Moves the CG forward without adding weight...

I did move the motor forward with 1/8 inch spacers. It helped quite a bit but I need a little more weight and can't go any further forward with it. Thanks though...any tips on balancing this thing with a 50cc are welcome.
