Balloons vs Dipping...

Balloons vs Dipping...
I want to "water-proof" my electronics, but more to protect them during clean-up than for driving in inclement conditions (if it is raining or nasty outside, Steve is at his work bench...).
I'm about to get a T-Maxx, and it is rather apparent that cleaning it after a days' running is going to be a much more detailed chore than cleaning the RC-10 we've been playing with. A pal introduced me to his quick'n'dirty cleaning method; an alcohol/Simple Green bath followed by lots of compressed air. Good for the time budget; not so great for the servos and receiver.
My question is this: does the tool handle dip stuff really provide more protection than the ballon idea? I realize the dip is far more durable, but I just have a problem with immersing an expensive servo in liquid plastic (I'll be using high-end servos on steering and throttle). What is your experience here?
Also, what's the best way to do the receiver and battery box (I'll be using a square ni-cad that fits in the box, with a separate switch/charge jack)? Some say silicone, some say dump the cover and balloon everything.
Clue me in, guys.

RE: Balloons vs Dipping...
"I would plasti dip. I did it to mine and it works geat. Its reliable and easy. Besides balloons break easy. "
YOU are right on that one, I got 3 kids that way
(j/k, no kids)
With the dip, it will last longer and also harder to remove if you ever need to, dont see why though. I would dip if I could get my hands on some.
