Default Brushless motor problem, need advice??

I got a brushless motor and speed control last week. I have set up the helicopter by using my existing rc transmitter and receiver. The helicopter is working properly. GREAT

But I have 1 question: When I fly the helicopter, the brushless motor and brushless motor speed control board get very hot. Is this normal??

Default RE: Brushless motor problem, need advice??

The speed controller gets hot because of excess current going through it. If the current exceeds the rated current, your speed controller may burn the FETs. The same thing happens to the motor, except the motor has magnetic cooper wire. Anyway, to make the story short, you load the motor too much. If either the speed controller or motor temperature goes beyond the specification, your helicopter would quit to work. Check the specification, and use a smaller teeth gear to reduce the loading of the motor.
