Creek Hobbies 25% Giles 202, What engine?
I just got a Creek hobbies 25% Giles 202 3D, and can't figure out what engine to put in it. They say 1.60fx, but I can't imagine this would have unlimited vertical (witch is a must). I was thinking about a Brison 2.4. The plane is supposed to weigh about 11.5lbs, but could probably go up to about 14lbs as long as it has the power. What do you think?

Look at the weight (wingloading) and HP/weight ratio for the airplane with both engines, and decide which you prefer. Their airframes are really not quite large enough to need a gas engine, but maybe you would like to get some experience with gas? I am going with the 160fx on my Creek 72" Katana.

I just sold a Creek Staudacher that I had a 1.60 on. Weighed just under 12lbs. With an APC 18x6 prop, unlimited vertical was no problem. It would go vertical at takeoff and accelerate straight up.

I have seen one fly with an os 1.60 and it was very impressive to say the least, I flew mine with a moki 2.10 and it did everything the os did just at alot lower throttle setting.

Just finished my Creek Giles 202 with a Brison 2.4 for power. Final weight came in at 13Lbs. Flies awesome. Unlimited vertical and lands slow and smooth. There are a lot of nay Sayers out there that say this aircraft is to small for gas. NOT TRUE. With MG servos in the tail I still had to put the Ignition/battery all the way forward in the firewall box to get it to balance. My receiver is in the tail near the servos but my 6V receiver battery pack is just behind the bottom hatch opening where the main spar is. If I had used an OS 1.6 I would have probably had to add about 2 Lbs of weight in the nose and each flight would have cost me about $3.00 in fuel instead of 20 cents. Brison 2.4 is an awesome engine, starts easy, and runs like a top Don't be afraid to go with gas, especially if you are using MG servos in the tail!
