Default DV / Hyde mount???

Chip,

Great to have you available for a resource, welcome aboard.....

?? I have a DV on order and have a YS 1.40 laying around, I was thinking on using it till I save up for a DA50, I'm thinking that around 12lbs for a YS1.40 is not to bad power to weight for Sunday funflier. I was wondering about the engine mount setup and if I can use a Hydemount, I am a big fan of using them especially in Arfs where very little glue penetration is normal, (excluding the DV of course)

You don't show much how the engines mount and I would not want to do anything to inhibit the ultimate DA50 plan....................

2nd ? I thought it odd that your Nats DV did not list a Hydemount use, what is your latest opinion on this subject matter?

Thanx, you DA MAN..........

It will not hurt a thing to put a 1.40 in to fly with while your waiting for the 50. The plane was not designed for that light of an engine up front, but I think you will ba alright if you put the RX pack as far forward as you can get it. Make sure to get the mount that does not require a nose ring to be built in, or the ARI version. The cowl is set up such that it can be moved fore and aft 2 inches for different engine setups with out meesing up the way the paintlines match. This will allow you to mount the cowl forward for the 1.4, and then move it back for a 50. The carb. on the 50s goes through the center of the firewall, but the firewall is not cutout from the factory. That will allow you to use the hyde mount first and then the standoffs with the 50.

I still use my dads mount for all of the competition flying, and had them in at the nats as well. It was just a misprint and I think everyone else in the top ten, used a hyde mount as well.
