Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
This is my Liquid cooled TRX 2.5R in a Duratrax maximum ST .... Liquid cooling works well, cant figure out why companys didnt offer liquid cooling along time ago...??????????

They do it's called a boat motor...just like the one in your RC. Water cooling is not practical nor needed when air cooling is more than sufficent...Boat Engines are water cooled cause they lack air movement to cool them. Do your homework.

Hey man I have been looking for a way to water cool my Monster GT I would love to know how you did it........like where the heck did you get that radiator and how you got that pump to work. Feel free to e-mail me.

What do you mean it wouldn't look good the body is going to cover it. And about the wieght....I'm not looking to race my truck so it really doesn't matter to me....it only going to add 1-2 pound at the most.

RE: Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
It doesnt work at all. We have gone over this in every other thread. The water gets up to the engines temp, and then it basically does nothing at all. Which is exactly why no one else has water cooling.
Plus, all 2 strokes need a proper pipe to provide the correct backpressure, Unlike what he has here. Almost every post of this user is the same exact thing.

Yeh there all right water coolin wont do nothin at all air cooling is much better for your engine. and save some money and get a real pipe.

RE: Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
Yeah screw you for trying something new......I agree though, water cooling will only work until the water gets to running temp.....have you tried a small air cooled head on top of the recirculating pump???...it's really not practical IMO but it's cool to see someone try a new design.....who knows you might be able to improve it and make something really cool someday.....
and that pipe does look pretty funky I'm sure you can make something that reacts the same as the tuned pipes you buy...just have to learn all about pressure waves and how to calculate their responses to different surfaces.....that's not too much to learn is it???

He had a "turbo" that he bragged worked, but then again, we NEVER saw it on his little video although he claimed it was installed. But listen to the video, the engine isnt even running right.

The way shvdcat got it setup is good but I'm going to try something a little different. I'm going to add a fan on the radiator and modify my body to get more are flow to the head. So with some good airflow and water cooled system I could make this work good. I have been doing a lot of research on this.

RE: Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
Use an old CPU fan or GPU fan and make sure you build up something around the radiator to protect it. Here is the problem with liquid cooling, IF we ever got it to work that is. You need the engine to get up to a certain temp (190-200) in order for you to run the engine without hurting it. Otherwise, you'll wear out the pinch extremely fast. So if we can manage to get the water to stay COOL and have a thermostat in the cooling head, this might work out to our advantage.

I have run across two types of pumps: one works on vacuum from a hole you drill in the crank case and the other bolts to the side of the crank case and works from the vibration of the motor.

in order to get this to work to your benefit, it gets to technical. Have the fan come on when the water temp gets to XX temperature, have fan off when it gets below XX temperature.

RE: Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
no cause you still need a switch to open/close based on temp not signal loss......I can maybe see this stuff being used on some big ass trucks but all that equipment (as it is now) is too much......but like every new idea it has to start somewhere right.....once the design is proven to work the downsizing is bound to happen much quicker......for a temp switch you need one of those Bi-Metal coils...but why not let the fan run all the time??? I don't think It will cool the water down fast enough to drop the engie temps below 200 once it's up to temp....

I think one of those overheat fail safe systems would work like the one this page. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&I=LXJTW3&P=
You could set the temp on whatever you want to make the fan come one and the same to shut it off. That way its not always on and not drawing on the battery as much.

RE: Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
Well I was thinking that you could hook up the overheat fail safe unit to an extra channel or the battery port on the receiver and splice in a servo connector to the fan. For example: I disconnected my reverse servo so I have an extra port on the receiver. Then I would splice the servo connector on to the fan. Anyway I would hook the overheat fail safe unit to the reverse port and hook the fan to the throttle port on the overheat fail safe unit. In theory that should work because when the overheat fail safe unit kicks in at whatever temp you set it at it should spin up the fan until the motor temp goes back down. Also maybe by pushing to reverse button on my radio that might kick the fan on too.

[sm=biggrin.gif]I found a radiator that just might work!! Check it out its for a PC water cooled system. http://coolingworks.com/products/CoolRad12T.htm

RE: Liquid Cooled TRX 2.5R
don't run th efan off your Rx pack...add a 9V batt and hardwire the safety switch and fan to that....the switch doesn't need to be connected to the Rx if it's not shutting the car down.....also make sure the heat switch will take 9VDC...should 6VDC is an odd voltage and I'm sure the electronics in that switch are outsourced from a stock part....
