See attached pics, A friend of mine just received his 166, and has trouble routing the fuel line, as the engine cover is pretty close to the turbine. So, either he drills a hole in the cover and routes externally (yikes), Or exchanges the Festo fuel connector for a Festo L type.
He´ll be checking with Jetsmunt also, but did any of you have a similar situation, and what was your solution ?
Most other brands have an elbow fitting there and some (Kingtech) give you both so you can switch it out as needed. I would wager there's absolutely no reason he couldn't change it out for an elbow.
Florian, the festo is attached to the valve block, I think you can change festo heads but let me verify the thread size and if you need the extension.
Thanks Keith, Yes, definitely, would be good to know thread size / specific type of Festo elbow head.
Cool that Jetsmunt USA is helping Jetsmunt customers in Germany :-) (to be honest, he didn´t check with Jetsmunt in Spain yet)
Please do also check clearance with the front engine cover hole. If my friend´s right, the required Festo elbow has a key width of 7 mm, so the hole in the front cover of the engine needs to be at least 9.89 mm diameter, which is about 1 mm more than the existing hole in the front cover.
My pleasure, helping people is what I enjoy so location is irrelevant we are all rc flyers! Cheers, I have three of these engines now, I will let you know what’s required today!
Resolved! Thanks Keith on behalf of my friend. The indicated Festo elbow worked, Pictures attached, test run successful, Maiden with 166 coming weekend!
Sorry for the delayed response, your jet looks great hope it’s flying well for u.
now sorry for my delayed response maiden went great for my friend, and awesome sound of the 166 at take-off! Really impressed by the fast startup compared to my own m100 in my Avanti.. thanks again for the help!
I need to do the same on my own 166 now, but yes, an M5 Festo 90 degree should work without any housing mods and is a simple unscrew and remount operation according to my friend.
