lol what is HPI thinking?
[link=http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/32710/]HPI Switch?[/link]
i first thought, ooo smart car. then i realsized it is FWD. which is cool and all but seriously. why that body?
then i saw some videos..... this thing seems to be very poorly designed or maybe it was just the setup in the video.
it has old school non-oiled filled shocks (like older tamiyas) and has about 60 degrees of wheel play (left to right) on the passenger side front.
look at this [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NohcWDmVf9I]video[/link]
r/c on the cheap, thanks HPI

Seems like a decent entry level RC, nothing special. FWD can be fun, though Tamiyas offerings seem better.
I don't mind the body, it's sorta cute [&:]

I like it! Looks cool, and i bet it hauls ***** with that big 540...... wow, in a 8.5 inch wheelbase car. The front wheel drive would be fun to have a go at too. Imagine sticking a 4000 nimh in it with a Co27!!!!!!

Just an FYI for everyone, this car has been out in china months ago. Im guessing Hpi had just decided to release it in the US... for some reason. If they had a CRX body or just some sort of civic hatch body this might be worth a looking.

It doesn't really seem like a hobby grade RC. I think they are just opening up their market to younger and younger people.
Basically it could do really well as a birthday/christmas present for a little kid.
The plastics on it seem really thick so a kid can smack it about without breaking anything and it requires no maintenence really...

There are an absolute ton of tracks that have a tamiya mini class. I've raced in this class for years. It looks to me like HPI has finally decided to build a car that some tracks will allow to race in the tamiya mini class (just like many slash classes allow other manufacturers now).
Personally, I like the idea.

contrary to popular belief, fwd can be pretty fun, especially if scale realism is what you're into. I smoked the rear diff on my TT-01 one time and kept on driving it with fwd only. the back end on a 4wd touring car is going to be too heavy in the back to have any real fun with though. It was difficult for the front tires to drag the rest of the car around. But these little hpi's look like the weight is distributed pretty well to make it more realistic. You could make a sweet 2wd rally car out of it.

ORIGINAL: Kitsune
What were they thinking? Just that they could grab a piece of the market that Tamiya's M03 chassis has. Not a bad idea if you ask me.
