Default Metal or not

my front bulkhead broke at the bottom by the a-arms and i need a new one. i think it broke cause i have an aluminum skid plate and it just took too many hits. if get the aluminum front bulkhead will my lower a-arms break easier? will other parts break easier? is there a benefit?

thanks

What traxxas model do you own? I'm guessing a T-maxx...

You must have a T-maxx oyaynj. The T-maxx tends to break bulkheads easier than some of the other trucks out there on the market. Its in the design of how the chassis and componets come together and hinged vs. no hinged. Alum. will transmit more energy to other parts vs plastic; however, you will probably find you get more life out of using the alum. bulks on the T-maxx.

Definitely go with alum bulkheads and bulkhead braces. It's much easier to replace a-arms than bulkheads.

Believe it or not, i know some may think I'm crazy, but; I would stick with stock parts because the problem with aluminum is that it can bend easily if its hit hard enough.

You are not crazy, however you dont own a T-maxx[:-] (plz correct me if you do). Anyways, the T-maxx is notorious for having weak bulks, and upgrading them to aluminum is actually a suggested practice. Tom.

When I went all aluminum and disassembled the front end one whole side of mine was split where the skid plate screws into it and I didn't even know it. And I never really wrecked it that hard. All aluminum now and no bends or breaks as of yet and its from that brand everyone loves to hate. I am not really impressed with anything about the t maxx but the speed everything else just sucks compared to just about any other like machine. Looking at the 8.0 mgt real hard lots of nice features there but a considerable amount more if your strapped.

I had integy aluminum bulkheads on my savage, and the aluminum is to soft to hold the screws when bashed hard. The screw holes were stripped and enlarged. My freind has alu bulkheads on his t-maxx and they have been good. Go with the traxxas brand if you get them, but don't do the arms and other stuff.

Personally, and this is just me; like I said before, I would tend to stick with the stock parts because they are a bit less expensive to replace. Unless rpm makes whatever part(s) I need as well; because rpm parts are extremely tough and very very durable and of course are guaranteed to be replaced if they ever break....

Still, I broke my stock T-maxx bulks 3 times before going alu, the alu ones have lasted for a good amount, so I would consider that a great upgrade.
