flying buzz saws
Hi Fellers,
First, a little background on me. I've been out of modeling for 35 + years. I've been going through about 12 inches of Model Airplane News and am getting that old urge to build again.
When I last was building, I was looking at scratch building very large birds, but there wasn't much to power them with. Talk about chainsaw engines produced thoughts that they would not work because of the severe vibration. I see that occasionally someone actually does a chainsaw conversion. Is there anything to concern about shaking a bird apart? I live in the "Great Northwoods" where chainsaw engines are plentiful. Model/hobby shops are nonexistent. I'm looking at building Giant Scale "out of the BOX" using non traditional materials. Can/would anyone offer their experiences with non aero engines?
Thanks,
Ivanawphalytch.....to go fishing, hunting, m/c riding, and flying

First off, welcome back to the greatest hobby/sport on earth. Your best bet would be to relocate your post in the Engine Conversions section of the forum and I'm sure the guys there will give you all the assistance you need.

RE: flying buzz saws
Check out the Engine Conversion forum. We have many posts on this subject. You may have heard of Zenoah engines. Just a Kamatsu engine rebranded. No more shaking in a converted saw engine than any other "Purpose built" engine. Most of the branded engines over the years use parts of a saw engine. Many just machine a case and use everything else off the shelf. I have converted many different brands and best of all you can save a bundle over a $600.00 branded engine. See you on that thread.

Go to the top of this page and just below the RC Universe.com globe click on FORUMS and go to the bottom of the page that comes up and you will find it.
