Recomended slope planes to fly Eagle, Kiona in WA
I'm moving back home to Kennewick WA in 2 weeks so I'll be able to fly Kiona, Eagle and Chandler again..
If you haven't flown those slopes they all have killer lift.
I've been away from slope flying to 15 years.. The last thing I flew on slope was a Bob Martin coyote.
I wish I still had that one.. Times have changes and I'm sure I don't know what is good anymore.
So I'm looking for a built up (sheeted foam wings OK) plane I don't want to put allot of $$ into.
Plan Kit or ARF I'm not picky..

If you could be a little more specific on what exactly you want it would be a lot easier to help. Do you want speed, climbing power, or maneuverability? Are you thinking of a 2m climber or a fast and maneuverable slope plane?
The Spirit Elite ARF is great for slope... Its flat wing and ailerons make it a great competition sailplane and it is quite cheap compared to planes of its caliber.
Specify what you need/want and we will recommend the best..

I've never been out sloping in WA, but for any slope I'd reccommend a Magnum Models Cobra. Good in a variety of lift conditions and an all-around barrel of fun. I've had mine for a number of yaers and it's still one of my favorites.

Lucky man!! With those slopes in your back yard, you have to go with a sled. If you have moderate building skills, I'd suggest building one of the old VS planes - Xica, Xingu, Rotor, V-Max. They are all either wingeron or pitcheron ships, easily built, and fly fantastically. Trust me, you will LOVE any of these.

Speed and aerobatic (well as far as a sailplane goes) would be my choice.. I had a ton of fun with the old Coyote..
I'll check into the VS planes.. Sounds fun..
I have an old T Tail 2m floater I've flown at Eagle and Kiona before . It's good for log 3-4 hour rides on a mild day at Kiona but Eagle and Chandler are a bit rough on it when the wind is really blowing.
I used to fly that Coyote with a 1lb stick of lead in it at Eagle and Chandler
I have a glass fuse 4m V tail back in WA that I plan on building new slope wings for when I find the time.
Right now it's just a big 4m 2 ch floater.
Any opinions on the Dynaflite Talon Kit? Only $30 so it would be a cheep
The cobra looks fun but I don't know if it's up to Eagle.. I've flown 35-40mph winds up there before.

The Talon is not a good plane. You will get bored after a while. It can do its aerobatics bout not anything else. I would recommend a larger and more built-up plane, possibly glass fuse.

I figured that's what you want. Most of the original VSs were designed w/ a 7% E374 airfoil, but I've also flown them w/ a thinned SD3021. For the huge lift of Kiona or Eagle though, I'd go with a SD 6062/6063. They carry weight very well, are blazingly FAST, have decent inverted performance, and hold energy well in sharp turns. Unfortunately, the VS line died several years ago, so you'll have to scratch build one. Not hard, but well worth the effort!
For an easier build you might want to look into some of the One-Design slope racers. If you can find a set of plans for an old wooden CR (Charlie Richardson) Renegade you should definitely consider that. The Renegade is a very easy build, will float in hand-launch lift, yet when ballasted will really smoke.

I think I'll take a shot at building the VS rotor.
Looks like a good built up design..
I guess I better look at building a foam cutting bow and bagging system.
