I was at my LHS today and saw that they had some Venom 8.4 7c Nimh packs for $34.99.
Are these any good and should I buy them?

I have some Venom 3000 mah batteries. They are ok in low current draw vehicles, but don't have much punch. With batteries, you get what you pay for.

so basically they are useless in an E-maxx 16.8?

It will run ok with them, but there will be a noticeable difference with better batteries. When I ran the Venom 3000s in my old e-maxx, it would still wheelie in 1st gear, but not in 2nd. With IB4200 6-cell packs, it would flip on its lid taking off in 2nd so quick you couldn't hardly catch it to back off the throttle to save it from going over. That was with the stock titan motors. Top speed was way better too. It all depends on what you want to spend.

I bought a brand new pair of Peak Racing PowerMax 3300s 6c nimhs like these below. How well will they perform?

I've never tried those. You'll just have to try them and see. Or maybe someone else has used them and can chime in with their experience with them.
