need help with nitro engine

Default need help with nitro engine

i have a mgt 4.6 and i have oil from the fuel coming out from around my pull start
its the stock ae .28 i'm just woundering if theres somthing wrong or what?
also the drill start wont turn the engine over but the pull start will, when i try the the drill start you can see the flywheel trying to turn but its like it just slips
thank you in advance for any help or ideas

Your backplate is seeping oil onto the pilot shaft. This is normal operation but it it leads to the one-way bearing slipping. Simply take out the one way bearing and soak it in some denatured alcohol or blast it with carb cleaner. You could also lightly scuff the shaft with some fine sandpaper to get the bearing to grab better. If the problem still persist then you will need a new one way bearing, or possibly a new bushing for the backplate if it leaks excessively. Also, I had a problem with my Savage when trying to use a drill. It was not high enough speed like the roto-start was and this caused the engine to not turn over fast enough for the starting mechanism to work right and it just slipped.

Check the grub screws securing the hex starter adapter onto the shaft are tight. The shaft start & pullstart share the same 1-way so if it was slipping neither would work.

Might want to check the seal on the exhaust. Maybe it's leaking there.
