anybody tried this??, heating up engine with lighter fluid to warm it up before starting it during snow run?..any feedback is encourage....

i dont know but my freind tryed to warm it up with those sigaret lighters that plug in to your car

Yeah, nothing better than watching money burn...... You realize you are gonna have an open flame next to a tankfull of alcohol and nitromethane? It is a very BAD idea any way you look at. You could burn your ride to the ground or even worse hurt yourself. Do not condone such behavior on here, someone new to the hobby could mistake it for real advice.

I ran my truck earlier today, it was about 3F at the time, and it runs great. unless you leave the truck out outside all the time the engine block is never going to be that cold anyway. if you store it inside, just fuel it up before going out, run a tank full through, and by then your hands are too numb to drive any more anyway, bring it in and warm up!

yeah, if you let the entire thing drop down to that temp, be prepared for a REALLY tough start. just bring it in a warm environment instead of trying to spot warm it up.

i'm asking and clarifying ideas in here, and i think that's how we learn.

the procedure that i'm thinking is squirt a small amount of fluid inside the cylinder block after taking off the glow plug with the piston almost at the top dead end just enough space to hold the fluid and light it til' warm enough to start the engine.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! C'mon common sense here fellas. That is a horrible idea. Don't ever do that. Seriously, it will just trash your nitro ride and be dangerous.

Buy a microwavable ankle wrap from the drugstore, get a small heating pad from the drugstore, something like that.

and if temp going down for some reason,just set you cars(big one) air condition to HOT(coolant must be hot) and put you RC engine heat sink in front of vent hole,ACAP,there super power hair dryer indeed,or use a 12v~City voltage convert and a norm hair dryer if you running a super size RC.....

and some times i use a butane(lighters Fuel) powered heat gun,no flame out of the nozzle,only hot breeze,this kind equip super portable and heat everywhere

I run in the cold and never have a problem starting the engines,,, the biggest things are a freshly charged ignitor and some heat to the engine.. I usually just fill with fuel and go outside or use my big cars heater vents to warm the head.. anything over 60 degrees F works fine.. usually starts on first or 2nd pull... keep the carb open just a bit extra and make sure to richen the mixture slightly.... once the truck was running, restarts are a breeze...

I just wondering if start engine at a low level temp like -5C,engine wear faster in maybe 10 second ?

cause engine over tighten in TDC at that temp like never been break in,

we made the things complicated

no matter winter or summer,our engine finally run at 150C(dissimilar) after startup

but if you start it in 30C ,there 120C difference in temperature,

start at -10 ,there 160C difference our engine gonna take

so here is my conclusion:

if you engine RUN at 150C ,perfect temp to start your engine is 150C ,is impossible ,so try you best ,heat your engine close to that temp before start
