Default epoxies for Ziroli P-38?

Hi-
I'm building a Ziroli P-38. What glues do any who have built this plane think are the best glues for building? I'm haveing trouble deciding on a good epoxy.

Thanks!

Thank you for the recommendation of Zpoxy 30 min. I've heard a lot about ZAP products but I've just never used them. I'm going to test it out on another project and see what I think. Thanks again!

Default epoxies for Ziroli P-38?

I have been using T88, it is an aircraft certified epoxy, works good in a wide temperature range but draw back is it is very slow setting (24 hr cure) I like to use this for laminating and joining plywood because of it's slow set time, it really gets to soak in and bite. in other areas I use 15 or 30 min epoxy from the LHS

Thick CA keeps the weight down and makes for fast building. T88, or something like Aeropoxy for areas requiring extra strength or big gaps. Glass cloth for bonding in firewalls and gear units.

Hi flying2bill,
sounds good, like the idea of it soaking in, for good bite. Is there fume problems other than normal? thanks, will give it a test.

T88 smells different than the hobby shop epoxies but is no worse, just different. Another nice thing about T88 you get at least a 1/2 hour pot life, nice working and adjusting time, when laminating don't forget to clamp if you can, force that glue into the pores

Default epoxies for Ziroli P-38?

Hi chip I have used zap-a-goo for glueing bulkheads to fiberglass for many years and its stronger than glassing them!! I am getting ready to start collecting parts for a Zirroli p-38 with 2 moki 3.6, which I already have!! What retracts are you going to use? The xp-38 from robart? Has anyone had any problems with them? You can email me direct @ [email protected] Rick

Bunch of replies-
Hi, Alsez, thanks, good info is hard to come by. Experience is always best.

Hi, flying2bill, thanks. Info on T-88 sounds good. I am buying lots of clamps. Do you have any special clamps to recommend for building the P-38? Getting started, waiting for missing parts.

Hi, 2engsout, thanks for the info on glueing bulkheads, can use all the info I can get. Good luck on the Ziroli P-38. I am doing robart zp-38s. No problems that I know of.

I have lots of small plastic spring clamps in various sizes, I get them at Menards, comme 22 in a tube for about $4 or $5
