RE: idle problem?
I'd try to richen the low speed needle a bit, if that doesn't help then yes turn the idle speed up a tad. My 3.3 came with the idle speed too high. After the break in, I turned the idle down. Yes it is better to adjust the idle screw and not the throttle trim. Apply the brakes to be sure that the throttle trim is not affecting your idle as you adjust the idle. "think I sound like the owners manual."

Well, actually, u can do it either way, but its probably better to do it when its not running. To adjust the idle to the proper setting; pull the air filter off, turn on the radio and apply full brakes; with full brakes applied, u should only have about a 1.25mm opening, or the thickness of a credit card. Once u have it set like that u should be good to go..

thanks alot guys. should i tune the idle while its running or when its off?
thanks alot guys. should i tune the idle while its running or when its off?
the answer to that is
yes
you do both
with it off
set the gap to (per traxxas)
.7mm - 1mm
then, after you've tuned
both the hsn and lsn
you fine tune the idle
with the car runnung

LOL, giggling at that one, do it running , that setting is how it comes from factory, doing it running you can hear the revs, both ways work, you can tune the top end, bottom end, and idle settings all while running, it is better to do so, the engine is hot and up to temp size, carby's expand too, tune your bottom end needle, and set the idle after that is done, if it was set rich you will find you idle revs comming up as you lean it out, screw idle scew out until it idles without catching the clutch, idle is set.
If its lean, and you richen it and it keeps stalling because the idle is to low, a much faster way to re-set it is to use the throdle adjust dial on the transmitter and dial the idle up manually, then screw idle screw in 1/2 a turn and then using the transmitter dial, bring revs back down, do that until its set, looks like alot, but its so simple after you do it once, you'll never forget.

Well what exactly is soo funny about that, beer? Hmmm? Last I heard u could do it either way, running, or not running, or both if u choose to do so; set it while its not running, then once the engine is running, re-check the idle gap and set ur lsn and hsn accordingly....

RE: idle problem?
I usually tell people to pull the airfilter off and check the gap with a allen wrench cause so many guys on here are still learning how to tune and might have ended up throwing it all out of wack. So they may end up over compensating for a way off idle screw adjustment by the Lsn. Just for a piece of mind and to help them learn how to do a intial idle set up and then tune it the right way. Hsn, then Lsn, then fine tune the idle all done at operating temps. Alot more to it than that but thats the basics.
