Default quadra vs zenoah

Hi , I am new to gas engines and I wondered why on the used market there is such a price difference on the two engines?? It seems that used zenoah engines go for around new prices but Quadras are cheap. Thanks Bill

I have a Zenoah 26, great running engine bit expensive though. its only had about 4 flights on it and from what i can tell i just keeps on getting better. i also have a Quadra 35 with bad bearings, also has alot of umf to it, i bought it at an auction with a plane that seems to big for it but will see. i had no 18/8s or 20/6s so i put on a 22/6 and it seemed to swing it with OK power, although i would never fly it like that.
overall the zenoah out performs the quadra, iver heard they put out about the same power

For one thing the old style Quadra is now the US41 engine, and the G38 is still made and has a very good reputation. I have a Quadra 42 still on my self now for 12 years waiting for the right plane. I wouldn't try to sell it because it is worth partically nothing. It is a good engine but I ran it side by side with a G38 and the G38 is more powerful. I put both these engines in a "special" catogory, they are too heavy for most of the planes that they have enough power to fly WELL.

I now use a Brison 2.4 in place of my Q42, 1 lb. lighter all up & 1000 more rpm's on the same prop - no contest.
